Welcome! RustyLid Offroad is the result of 18+ years of four-wheeling. In those 18 years I've been on a lot of adventures (planned and unplanned), broken a lot of parts, recovered a lot of vehicles, modified and upgraded a lot of vehicle parts, and generally learned a whole lot. The best part of it all, is I'm still learning. My hope with this site & blog is to be able to share some of what I've learned, share what parts are on my rigs (vehicles), and share some of the details of some of my more custom modifications in case you want to do something similar.
The goal of this blog will be to tell stories and do deep dives in specific modifications or installations. Some examples might be; a look into the past to show all the 4x4s I've owned, or deep dives on my solar panel installation, Onboard air system, or hot water system. So, keep any eye out on blog posts that will cover those topics and many more. In the meantime, take a look at the Vehicles Page to learn about the specs of my 2001 Ford Excursion and my 1981 Jeep CJ7. You'll quickly learn I'm a bit of a geek as well, so be sure to check out the GPS Page and HAM Page (still in progress) to learn what I'm using and some of the tracks and frequencies that are my favorite. Lastly, the What We Use Page lists a lot of the equipment that I use for repairs, recovery, camping etc. It's a great place to help build out your own recovery kits as well as learn what I use.
